As well as paying school fees and buying necessary school items like books, clothes and shoes, ACT provides financial support for the widowed mother or guardians to provide food for the family. Through their training programmes, ACT is working together with partners in the community to empower the widows so that they can sustain their families. Their partners are local Christian churches or organisations who care for the poor and needy in their community. The sponsorship programme offers the opportunity for direct contact with the child where letters are exchanged. It is also possible for sponsors to choose an indirect approach and not have any contact with the sponsored child or family.
